Vail Jazz at Solaris – THE BURROUGHS
Going strong for a decade, The Burroughs–one of the most popular bands in Colorado–are back in Vail by popular demand. Known for their trademark brand of “Sweaty Soul Music,” this crowd-pleasing nonet electrifies even the largest venues with a powerhouse sound that seasons classic soul standards with modern flair. The Burroughs offer layers of drums, guitars, and keys behind frontman Johnny Burroughs–songster, dancer, circuit rider–who inevitably works his audiences into a revival-like frenzy. His dynamite backing band includes a dazzling 4-piece horn section and a tight 4-piece rhythm section that proffer choreographed dancing, inspired solos and funky grooves; call it blistering soul psychedelic funk rock! With multiple recordings and appearances throughout the west, they’ve also opened for acts including The Motet, The Steve Miller Band, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and The Main Squeeze. Most boroughs have boundaries; not these Burroughs!
